As we anticipate the dawn of a new year, we become introspective about the prior months—reviewing what we’ve accomplished and how we plan to improve our lives in the coming year. There’s something about ending one time era and entering a new one that brings about an appreciation for a clean slate.
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
The New Year is an opportunity to reinvent yourself and go after your truest desires, dreams and goals. Traditionally, we write a list of resolutions filled with things to do or not to do. However, many of the goals are left unmet. Clearly we don’t have any more time to waste! Mainly because you start with a list of things to accomplish, but no real plan to make it happen.
Many times people think “If I just work harder…If I have determination and perseverance…All I need is one big break…” to make my dreams come true…I just want you to know, your personal vision, attitude and expectation of a great life is what will keep you motivated and determined enough to persevere and reach your goals. Much of success is “inside work”. Long before it becomes a reality it is born in your heart and mind and need to be cultivated.
As we embark on our 2016 clean slate, I want to encourage you to not just create a list of goals but resolve to focus more on the inner work that it takes to bring about real change. To get you started in the right direction, I’m sharing my top 3 success secrets to having intentional success this year. If you’re tired of looking back and feeling disappointed about not achieving your dreams and goals, you may want to try the following tips to your business and life.
Declutter. When you’re trying to make something big happen, clearing the clutter is a sign that you’re ready for prosperity and productivity in your life. When you de-clutter, you create a vacuum for new things in your life by clearing out the old. Things that are used up, no longer relevant and taking up space have to go so that the next big thing can come in.
Know that order precedes increase. Start by cleaning and organizing your office, desk and files. Eliminate anything that is no longer needed. The more order that you create for yourself, the more you will find clarity, answers and direction toward reaching your goals. It will be much easier to focus in on making daily progress.
Old accounts, notes and files that are lying around your office are just taking up valuable space that could be used for new clients. Take some time to go through every part of your office and when you’re done, do the same thing at home. Once you get rid of the junk and distractions, your success path will be much more apparent. You’ll also feel a sense of freedom to explore opportunities, finish old projects and create something new.
Designate a spot for incoming papers. Papers often account for a lot of our clutter. This is because we put them in different spots — on the counter, on the table, on our desk, in a drawer, on top of our dresser, in our car. No wonder we can’t find anything! Designate an in-box tray or spot in your home (or at your office, for that matter) and don’t put down papers anywhere but that spot. Got mail? Put it in the inbox. Got school papers? Put it in the inbox. Receipts, warranties, manuals, notices, flyers? In the inbox! This one little change can really transform your paperwork.
Journalize. Regardless of your occupation or what kind of business you run, writing can help you succeed in many ways. You can use the power of pen and paper to strategize and create anything you want. Since, the plan is to make this year your best ever, I challenge to you write your way to success using the journaling method. Keeping a daily journal is one of the most pivotal success habits that I have formed. I use a journal for every facet of my life. This is important to me because I want to show others how to do more than write down words in a journal. I know that when you learn how to intentionally write your own success story, there’s no way you won’t keep it up. The results will be too astonishing to ignore and you’ll be amazed at how fast you can attract your desires into your life.
What to include in your journal:
Reactions to personal situations and world events
Goals you’re working toward
Inspiring quotes
Poetry that moves you
Pictures from magazines or photos you love
Books to read
Music you’ve heard that you may want to purchase (or reference in a story)
Websites to explore
Grocery lists
To do lists
In other words, whatever is important or interesting to you.
Choose your word for 2016. Imagine yourself at the end of the year and looking back over the most amazing year of your life…If you could reach every goal, make all the money you want, achieve the highest sense of fulfillment and well-being…if everything you touched turned to gold…what word would best describe you winning year in a nutshell?
Write down every word that comes to you. Take a day or two to meditate on your winning year and the words on that list. Circle the word that resonates with you the most and write it down in your journal or on an index card. This word will be your watchword for the year. It is the essence of your success. Allow this word to center your focus and guide you throughout the year.
Once you start using the one word method, you’ll begin to see how things will align with your word focus. Your thoughts about your dreams and goals will become clearer. You will find it easy to get back to your core focus when things get hectic throughout the year.
So my word of the year is, MIRACLE & BELIEVE. The key to having an incredible year is to start strong and maintain that momentum for an entire year.
Please let me know what your 2016 goals look like. I’m excited about your future. Let’s connect this year.
Inspired,
